Bahawalpur
(Punjabi/Urdu: بہاولپور),
located in the province of Punjab,
 is the twelfth largest city in Pakistan.

The city was once the capital of the former princely state of Bahawalpur.

The city was home to various Nawabs (Kings) and counted as part of the Rajputana states (now Rajasthan, India).
The city is known for its famous palaces such as the Noor Mahal, Sadiq Ghar Palace, Darbar Mahal as well as the ancient fort of Derawar located in the Cholistan Desert bordering India.
The city also is located near the historical and ancient cities of Uch and Harappa which was once a stronghold of the Delhi Sultanate and Indus Valley Civilisation.
The city is also home to one of the few natural safari parks in the country, Lal Suhanra National Park.

Le Pakistan,
officiellement la République islamique du Pakistan
 est un pays asiatique islamique entouré par
 l'Iran,
 l'Afghanistan,
 la Chine,
 l'Inde
et la mer d'Oman.

Fondé le 14 août 1947,
 le Pakistan entretient des relations tendues avec l'Inde depuis sa création en raison du partage entre ces deux pays du territoire du Cachemire.

 Les deux pays se sont affrontés durant trois guerres successives.
 Il entretient également des relations difficiles avec l'Afghanistan concernant la lutte contre les talibans dans les régions tribales.
En revanche, le Pakistan est un allié des États-Unis dans la région et entretient des relations cordiales avec la République populaire de Chine ayant été le premier pays à reconnaitre le régime chinois, en 1950.

 Le Pakistan dispose de l'arme nucléaire après avoir fait ses essais officiels en 1998.

Avec 180 millions d'habitants en 2009, le Pakistan est le sixième pays le plus peuplé du monde, avec la deuxième plus nombreuse majorité musulmane après l'Indonésie.
Il fait partie des Next Eleven, onze pays à fort potentiel économique pour le xxie siècle.
 Il est membre de l'Organisation des Nations unies (ONU),
 du Commonwealth et de diverses autres organisations de développement économique.

Le Pakistan a connu, depuis son indépendance, des temps de démocratie et de dictatures militaires.
 L'histoire récente du pays a été fortement influencée par Ali Bhutto, sa fille Benazir Bhutto et Nawaz Sharif, ainsi que par les coups d'État du général Zia en 1977 et de Pervez Musharraf en 1999.
Depuis la fin des années 1990, le Pakistan fait face à une insurrection talibane provenant des régions tribales du nord-ouest du pays.
 De nombreuses attaques terroristes, souvent revendiquées par les talibans du Pakistan, frappent le nord du pays, principalement à Peshawar, Lahore ou Rawalpindi, et ont redoublé depuis 2007.

Las Bela was a princely state in India (later Pakistan)
 which existed until 1955.

The state occupied an area of 18,254 km2 (7,048 sq mi) in the extreme southeast of the Balochistan province with an extensive coastline on the Arabian Sea to the south.

 Las Bela was bordered by the princely states of Kalat and Makran to the north and west.

To the east lay the province of Sind and to the southeast lay the Federal Capital Territory around the city of Karachi.
